Part restaurant, part brewery, part smokehouse, Against the Grain stepped up to fill the void left at Louisville Slugger Field when Browning’s closed. Several rotating varieties of beer are brewed on the premises, and the menu aims to please carnivores and vegetarians with selections like beer-can chicken, pan-seared duck, and tempeh pulled pork.
The menu at this Westport-area eatery is heavily peppered with just-like-Mom-used-to-make favorites like meatloaf, pot pie and fried chicken. Try the chicken livers or fried green tomatoes served with plate-scraping “creek” sauce.
This Chinese restaurant has been a St. Matthews staple for years. Traditional dishes, like braised duck web, may be a stretch for some, but the Oriental House beef and Chinese broccoli are also satisfying.
