This is the only place in town where an expertly crafted beer list is served in a former church, complete with an upstairs bar called the Choir Loft. The menu consists of snack-sized portions of bar food like scotch eggs and chorizo tacos. It would be a sin not to take the beer pairing recommendations on the menu.
Folks used to think the sign read “No Goils.” But it’s “No Coils” — a bygone way of cooling draft beer — that are eschewed by this 1924 St. Matthews landmark, which serves up burgers, barbecue and hot wings — not to mention a wide selection of domestic and imported beers and live music.
The pre- and post-arena event dining selection expands. The Troll Pub offers everything game-goers expect like burgers, pizza and chicken wings, plus a few unique items like “hog wings”— bone-in pork tips — and the “troll leg”— a smoked turkey leg.
Food and great Cardinal memories come together at this restaurant near Freedom Hall devoted to U of L sports. Each booth has its own small TV. Specialties include baby-back ribs and fresh salmon, as well as the “Walk of Fame” salad.
