As a 22-year-old, I am relatively new to the adult New Year's Eve scene, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I showed up at Fourth Street Live! this past Saturday. However, I soon saw that it was full of excitement, energy, music, and of course tons of alcohol! There was even a live (free) concert featuring a 70s style band (afros, bell bottoms and all) on the ground floor. The second floor, which holds numerous night clubs featured live DJ music and $5 mixed drinks. Unfortunately, the cover charge to enter the second floor was a whopping $30 for those without VIP tickets.
At midnight, a giant projection screen, which hung from the second floor balcony, displayed the New York Time's Square ball drop, but most people were more interested in Louisville's own miniature New Year's ball which was dropped right in the center of 4th Street.
This was definitely one of the largest parties in Louisville on Saturday; however, it was also one of the most crowded! By the end of the night, my friends and I had to battle our way through hoards of drunken party-goers at every turn. My recommendation: pre-game drink early and get to 4th Street before 10 pm if you want to avoid long entrance and drink lines. Despite the crowds, Fourth Street Live! is definitely an exciting hot spot for any Louisvillian or out-of-towner seeking a good time and maybe even that special New Year's Eve kiss. Next year if you find yourself looking for something to do on New Year's Eve, be sure to check out Louisville's biggest New Year's Eve party at Fourth Street Live!
