65°F2:40 AM On July 3, 1776, John Adams wrote a letter to his wife Abigail, in which he predicted: “The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.

Once again, the NEW Lite 106.9 (WVEZ) is doing something… NEW. After handing out tens of thousands of dollars with the Song of the Day Contest over the past two months, the station known for listening at work will celebrate this holiday weekend by REWINDing their playlist.
Starting at 3PM on Friday July 1st and continuing through July 4th, Lite 106.9 will become the destination for “the 80’s and more” with a special REWIND WEEKEND.
Alter Ego is a boutique in Westport Village that caters to women over 40 with beautiful dresses and outfits that both fit and flatter. Alterations are free of charge and let me assure you - the seamstress/owner Linda Hawpe knows her way around a dress!
I headed over to Apricot Lane Boutique in Westport Village this afternoon to see if I could find something fabulous and festive to wear this weekend. I was in luck! I found a navy blue maxi skirt paired with a simple white tank, and then added a bunch of red accessories.
This entire outfit costs under $200! U-S-A!!

You may have noticed a difference between what you can buy on the Kentucky side of the river (essentially sparklers and noisemakers) versus what you can buy on the Indiana side (mortars that would put a Guerrilla insurrection to shame.) There's a huge difference between what's legal in each state. This is why I recommend all fireworks loving people visit their friends in Indiana for the 4th of July.
It's a pandemic threatening to induce basil grinding and pesto-making from coast to coast--Downy Mildew--and it's right here in Louisville. As downy soft as it may sound, your sweet basil is at risk, because my dear sweet basil was already stricken with the blight.
