The weekend rundown of gardening classes starts with the Bernheim Garden Harvest Festival at Bernheim Forest. It's the peak of harvesting the summer crops! This weekend, this one final weekend before the inception of the school year can not be wasted. No, this weekend is the end to all that smells of summer. No more sleeping in, no more sending kids to bed with sweaty heads and dirty feet, no more dilemma over what to do today. Monday morning, bright and early, life will accelerate, the routine machine will squash daily freedom, the school year will begin. As a teacher, I feel the magnitude of this weekend, so plan wisely, live it up, suck the last bit of pleasure from this final weekend. Check below for a few ideas.
Summer nights. I can't think of a better pair of words, well maybe cheese and wine or baby and sitter, but nonetheless, summer nights are magical and romantic. Even when you have a family. Spring has sprung and it is time to revel in the beauty of our state. Take pleasure among the rolling hills and immaculate landscaping of indigenous flora and fauna of Bernheim. Located in Claremont, KY, just south of Louisville down I-65, Bernheim is the perfect day-escape with the family. As always, admission is free, but cars must pay a $5 environmental impact fee for crossing the gate. Check out the listing of events in early April (just around the corner) below.
We tend to take her awe and grandeur for granted most days of the week by coughing exhaust into her atmosphere, sucking the water from her depleting veins, and filling her with waste. But Earth Day is around the corner and she has demanded out attention this year through drought, earthquakes, and tsumamis. Celebrate Mother Earth and her glory at one of the following Earth Day events in Louisville during the month of April.
Spring may not have officially sprung in Louisville, but while the beautiful weather lasts, we better take advantage of it. Who knows, we could be stuck in doors all the way to Derby. And if your house is anything like mine, our ears and furniture won’t be able to take it. If you are looking for some outdoors activities to air-out the the whole family, check out the listing below for some inexpensive, nature-oriented treats.
Unlike a large portion of the country, we are not under two feet of snow and therefor buried in our respective dens. A little rain in Louisville this week reminds us we are surrounded by buddings of soon to be life. Spring is not too far off, so celebrate the harsh winter weather’s near miss this weekend at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest.
It’s official: the temperature has officially reached “cold as hell” status. This term may be oxymoronic in nature, so let’s just roll with it. Quit hibernating, peel yourself off the sofa, don’t join the massives with the annual winter hobby of watching TV. Try “warming up” to one of the outdoor adventures happening this weekend around Louisville.
