In his first start for trainer Wesley Ward, All Squared Away pulled off a shocker when he won Keeneland’s $200,000 Coolmore Lexington Stakes (Grade 3) at odds of 70-1.
Previously trained by Peter Miller who also co-owns the horse, All Squared Away came into Saturday’s Coolmore Lexington with only a maiden win under his belt. Looking back at his last three starts, All Squared Away finished sixth to Went The Day Well in Turfway’s Grade 3 Vinery Racing Spiral, finished second in an allowance, and seventh in the Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby.
Keeneland’s Grade 3 $200,000 Coolmore Lexington Stakes is the last chance for many Kentucky Derby hopefuls to earn the graded stakes needed to make the Derby’s limited field. The Kentucky Derby’s 20-horse field, plus four also eligibles, is limited to horses with the most graded stakes earnings. Currently, the magic number is just over $184,700.
Secret Circle, the even-money favorite, held on to win the Grade 2 $500,000 Rebel Stakes on Saturday at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The win gave trainer Bob Baffert his third straight Rebel win, having won last year’s running with The Factor and the 2010 version with Lookin At Lucky. Secret Circle is owned by Karl Watson, Mike Pegram and Paul Weitman, who also owned Lookin At Lucky.
A field of 13 is set to compete in the Grade 2 $500,000 Rebel Stakes which will run Saturday at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Headlining the field is Bob Baffert’s Secret Circle, who won the second division of the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes February 20 over the Oaklawn dirt. In that race, he managed to stay a half-length in front of fellow Rebel competitor Scatman.
I’ll Have Another, the longest price on the board at odds of 43-1, easily won the Grade 2 $200,000 Robert B. Lewis stakes at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Sitting comfortably in second throughout the 1 1/16 mile race, Doug O’Neil’s I’ll Have Another made his move around the turn and overtook the lead from Isn’t He Clever going into the stretch. I’ll Have Another finished 2 ¾ lengths in front of Empire Way, who was another 2 ¾ lengths in front of Groovin’ Solo.

The Grade 1 $1,000,000 Travers Stakes, the highlight of the Saratoga meet and a race that may determine the year's three-year-old champion, went to Mike Repole's Stay Thirsty. Sent off as the slight favorite in the field of ten, the Todd Pletcher trained runner vied for the lead briefly with Dale Romans' Preakness Stakes winner, Shackleford, and the Kelly Breen trained Belmont Stakes winner, Ruler On Ice. The quick-paced Shackleford won out for the lead, while Stay Thirsty sat just behind him, along with Moonshine Mullin and Ruler On Ice.
