TARC releases bus routes, schedule changes for KFC Yum! Center events [Transportation]

After big events at the KFC Yum! Center, TARC will keep buses off Main and Market streets near the arena to avoid heavy traffic. TARC passengers will be directed to boarding areas several blocks away and additional buses will be added to some routes.

From the Transit Authority of River City:

TARC announces special downtown service for Thunder [Thunder Over Louisville]

Taking public transportation to Thunder can save you time--and introduce you to some interesting folks (like the Galt House employee who was drinking in the back of my bus last year).

TARC will provide special service to downtown for Thunder Over Louisville on Saturday, April 17. Beginning at 3:30 p.m. buses will be added to the 14 routes that provide service into downtown Louisville. These buses will operate in between regularly scheduled service on these routes.

The routes are:

KY Jelly: Kiss my bus #2

So now the bus we need isn't just late...it never comes at all?

Why TARC needs Twitter

A passenger plea for TARC to tweet
Only a day or so after writing a story about life on the bus, I found myself standing at my stop for many long minutes past the time the #2 should have picked me up. Five minutes late turned into 10 turned into 20, then 30. Dark fell. A bus friend called me from his stop a few blocks away. "I got through to TARC on the phone. The #2 is stuck in traffic at Crittenden because of the lines for the flu shot at the stadium." I decided I'd had enough of standing in front of Dr.

My other car is the TARC

Life on the bus
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ride the TARC bus? To give up a car; the payment, the insurance, the tax bill -- and the flexibility -- in exchange for a monthly bus pass? I wondered. When the time came for my husband to turn in a company car during a career change, we faced adding another car to the budget. I willingly take public transportation while travelling, so wondered why I should rule out the TARC buses that trundle around my own town. I decided to give it a go for a month and see how it worked out.
