Nominations being accepted for Kentucky Oaks Survivors Parade [Horse racing]

Stand Up To Cancer with Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Oaks.

For the fourth year in a row, Churchill Downs will transform itself into a pink wonderland when it welcomes guests to the 138th running of the Grade I Kentucky Oaks. The 1 1/8 mile race for three-year-old fillies will run on Friday, May 4, the day before the Kentucky Derby.

The Mint Jubilee 2011 [Kentucky Derby]

There's Derby parties, then there are Derby parties! You may lose a wager at the track this year on Kentucky Oaks Day, but are guaranteed a great time this year at The Mint Jubilee. It's not cheap, but a wager is easier to stomach when you know why you lost and this way you walk away well-fed. After all, who can trust a horse, of course, of course. And horses are notoriously bad chefs.

Determined that other cancer patients and their families should not suffer, Chris Thieneman, Tom Thieneman, Jr., and Matt Battaglia created The Mint Jubilee, whose mission is to provide resources to non-profit organizations committed to finding cures and controls for cancer and other relevant non-profit organizations. In 1993, Matt’s mother, Nancy Van Cleve Battaglia, lost her fight with lung cancer after fighting the disease, which spread to her brain and liver immobilizing her and impeding her ability to communicate.
