Toledo pitcher Charlie Furbush recovered from a shaky start to shut down the Louisville Bats' bats over the final eight innings as the Mud Hens beat Louisville 8-3 Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field. However the Bats maintained their 1 1/2-game lead in the International League West because second-place Columbus also lost.

Veteran catcher Corky Miller, left, ignited the Louisville Bats' comeback from a 3-0 deficit in the final two innings of their 6-3 victory over the Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field on Monday night. Miller hit a leadoff home run in the eighth inning, then a go-ahead, two-run double in the ninth to help Louisville keep its half-game lead over Columbus in the International League West.

Twenty-two-year-old catcher Devin Mesoraco, left, hit a walk-off, grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning in his Triple-A debut to give the Louisville Bats a come-from-behind 5-3 win over Syracuse on Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. It was their 13th straight win at Slugger Field, and it also moved them within 1 1/2 games of Columbus in the International League West.

The Louisville Bats, who were in fourth place in the International League West at the Triple-A All-Star break, moved into first in the division Thursday night. Louisville's 10-4 win over host Toledo, coupled with Columbus' 4-3 13-inning loss to Syracuse, gave the Bats a half-game lead over the Clippers in the West. Chris Valaika, left, and Wladimir Balentien each went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Louisville's 17-hit attack.

The Louisville Bats completed a four-game sweep of the Norfolk Tides over the weekend, beating them 8-7 Friday, 5-2 Saturday and 8-7 Sunday to move within 2 1/2 games of International League West-leading Columbus.
