Trends 10 w/ Christan Turner: It's all about accessories--blessings in a backpack

Holly Houston is the whole package and she let me know a thing or two about fashion--it's all about the accessories.

Holly Houston is a talented lawyer, compassionate humanitarian and a connector. She's the whole package and she let me know a thing or two about fashion--it's all about the accessories.

Trends 10 w/ Christan Turner: We the people of fashion salute Lindsey Vonn

Lindsey Vonn’s cover on Sports Illustrated has been a hot story these Olympics. But I can’t believe that a young woman from Minnesota gets criticism from her own country for being fashionable.

I know Lindsey Vonn’s cover of "Sports Illustrated" was a hot story early on in these Winter Olympics. I can’t get the scrutiny out of my head.

TRENDS 10 w/ Christan Turner: Younger Woman's Club hosts the Candy Ball

The Younger Woman's Club's members not only make a difference professionally but are committed to others who are less fortunate. Since 1921, the group has raised more than $3 million that has benefited local, non-profit agencies.

I couldn't wait to be surrounded by the ladies of the Younger Woman's Club Candy Ball this past Saturday. This group of fine Louisville women ages 21 to 45 not only make a difference professionally but are committed to others who are less fortunate. They host many events throughout Louisville and since 1921 have raised more than $3 million to benefit local non-profit agencies.

But, this is a fashion column: not only have these women succeeded in business and helping others, but they look fantastic in doing it.

TRENDS 10 w/ Christan Turner: And the Oscar for fashion at Actors Theater's Lobster Feast goes to....Cecelia Perez

It was a sold out event for the Actors Theatre of Louisville for its annual fundraiser at the Marriott Downtown. I was able to go into the room before anyone else. You could tell that it was an event that was working within a budget but Barry Wooley pulled it off magnificently. Everything upon opening the door had a blue cascade of color upon it which made it very soothing to spend an evening.

TRENDS 10 w/ Christan Turner: Kentucky Derby Festival poster unveiled among beautiful fashions at The Henry Clay

As Valentine’s Day speedily approaches, I unveil what it takes to win my love. I was on assignment at the Henry Clay with Sunday Pitts last night for Trends 10 of Louisville.com. If you know me, I complain about going to all events, but when I actually walk through the doors I am glad I had come. I didn't want the black attire to set my mood for the evening. As we walked into the Henry Clay, we were surrounded by beautiful smiles at an equally stunning venue.

Trends 10 with Christan Turner: This is for all you southern boys and girls

Designer Billy Reid combines southern hospitality with fashion, perfectly fusion plaids and ruffles.

After having a morning coffee on Bond Street in New York City, I found myself hailing a cab, running in a cute pair of D&G's, simultaneously Billy Reid is calling my name. I don't know what made me look over but maybe my eye is drawn to all things made of gold. I entirely disregarded the fact that I was already late to my first meeting of the day and chose to take those deep black steps that led to my hometown in the South.
