We received the following message from Kentucky’s junior senator, Republican Rand Paul:
"Kelley and I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Best wishes to you and your family during this holiday season. Merry Christmas, Kentucky."
A Holiday Message From Sen. Rand Paul and Kelley Paul
Republicans and Democrats alike issued a flurry of accusatory statements today, both sides hoping that their desperate spin would convince a soon to be stunned public that the other side "did it". What will soon be stunning that public is a 1,209 page, $1 trillion plus spending bill that will fund most of the government through September of next year. If you do the math, that averages over $827 million of spending per page!
Rand Paul's 2012 budget proposal was, for the most part, received by his colleagues in Congress with a deafening silence. With good reason. But it provides a wealth of insights into Rand Paul's thought processes that shouldn't just be swept under the rug.
In today's installment we look at his proposal for spending by the legislative branch, or, of Congress itself.
Paul's proposal is simple enough. Reduce spending to 2008 levels and get rid of the Government Printing Office.
Spending by the Legislative Branch
Yesterday, on the floor of the United States Senate, Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) joined several of his Republican colleagues in a colloquy in which they voiced their support for addressing the current debt crisis immediately and providing solutions, such as a series of spending cuts and caps and attaching balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
