69°F9:10 AM What do you get when you put four of the most lyrical MCs together in a group? One word. SLAUGHTERHOUSE. This four-man rap group represent their name to the fullest, and are heavily known for their creative, witty lyrics, especially on the Internet. Each MC has proven they can stand on their own independently, but become an extreme force as a group. “This is the most crowded I’ve ever seen Headliner’s,” a girl shouted to me as the opening act, “Larry & His Flask” seriously revved up to wind their show down. She wasn’t far from wrong – Headliner’s was almost at capacity with some of Louisville’s rowdiest to see The Reverend Horton Heat with special guests “The Goddamn Hallows”, and “Larry & His Flask&rd
Thursday, March 8th, Reverend Horton Heat will hold service at Headliner’s Music Hall with Larry & His Flask and The Goddamn Gallows on their "Stewed, Screwed, & Tattooed" tour. The Reverend has a nearly endless touring ethic and musical style that’s equally as rooted in Southern tradition as it is in breaking it. Their appeal lies somewhere between the mosh pit, revival, and a good, ol'-fashioned barn-raising, where boundaries between audience and performer become almost disappear.
Legends of 80/90's indie rock, The Lemonheads, will hit the rewind button on Monday March 5 at Headliner’s Music Hall. The band will be playing " It's a shame about Ray " in it’s entirely with special guests The Shining Twins and Dear Meet. A must for all of their fans and as well a unique opportunity to (re)discover them!
So, just how cool is Crescent Hill? Make no mistake, the popular and eclectic borough has definitely won both Louisville’s local love and literary laud. As one of Louisville’s oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods – that also just happens to have the added bonus of some seriously sweet independent spirit – it’s not surprising that both loyals and admirers alike share an interest. So, how cool is cool? It’s history for the hip.
I’ve already waxed poetic many a turn about Louisville’s love and loyalty to its many distinct neighborhoods. You get the vibe from my flow. But how much do you know about the yesteryears of your favorite Louisville locales? There is probably a lot more to your choice neighborhood pub or homey haunt than just several strata of paint and some brick and mortar. Layers, my friends, are waiting to be peeled back and tell the stories of our fair city from the perspective of the neighborhoods that shape its eclectic whole. Join author John E.

Yes, the Fair is in town. Don't get me wrong, I've been known to slam draft beers and ingest giant sausages, then sweat profusely while chicken-dancing under a giant tent on the midway with the best of them, but there is something about the allure that of the KY State Fair that just doesn't do it for me anymore. Maybe the parking, maybe the crowds, maybe the overdose of ugly--tomatoes, lamps (dare I say, humanoids), but the Fair is the last place I want to spend my weekend.
