Bulls beat Bats 6-2 to even series [Sports]

The Durham Bulls evened the Governors’ Cup playoff series Thursday night by beating the Louisville Bats 6-2 at Louisville Slugger Field. Five Durham pitchers limited Louisville to four hits, while the Bulls scored five runs in the first five innings to tie the best-of-five series at 1-all. The series concludes in Durham over the weekend.

Five Durham pitchers limited Louisville to four hits as the Bulls evened their playoff series with the Bats on Thursday night.

Sparked by that pitching, and some early offense, Durham denied Louisville a 2-0 lead in the Governors’ Cup playoffs by beating the Bats 6-2 at Louisville Slugger Field to knot the series at 1-all.  

Bats beat Bulls 8-4 for 1-0 series lead [Sports]

The Louisville Bats took a 1-0 lead in the first round of their Governors’ Cup playoff series against Durham on Wednesday night with an 8-4 win over the Bulls at Louisville Slugger Field. They got a strong start from Chad Reineke and 10 timely hits to take the first game in the best-of-five International League playoff series. The second game of the series is at 6:05 p.m. Thursday night at Slugger Field.

The Louisville Bats rode the right arm of Chad Reineke and 10 timely hits to a 1-0 lead over Durham in the Governors’ Cup playoffs.

Reineke pitched seven solid innings, while getting plenty of help from the Bats’ bats, as Louisville beat the Bulls 8-4 Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. The best-of-five International League playoff series continues Thursday night.

Bats win game and division, again [Sports]

The Louisville Bats won a game, beating the Indianapolis Indians 6-3 at Louisville Slugger Field, and also won their third straight International League West title Monday afternoon thanks to Toledo’s 5-2 win over Columbus on the final day of the IL regular season. Louisville scored five runs in the first three innings and got a solid start from Ben Jukich, left, who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. The Bats open postseason play Wednesday against Durham at 6:05 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field.

The Louisville Bats won a game, and a division, Monday afternoon.

The Bats beat the Indianapolis Indians 6-3 on Labor Day, the final day of the International League regular season, at Louisville Slugger Field. Louisville’s victory, coupled with Columbus’ 5-2 loss to Toledo, gave the Bats their third straight IL West title.

Bats lose, but win playoff berth [Sports]

The Louisville Bats lost 4-1 at Indianapolis on Saturday night, but they clinched an International League playoff berth thanks to Syracuse's 8-2 loss to Rochester. Louisville still has a chance at its third straight division title. The Bats trail Columbus by a half-game with two games remaining in the regular season. Louisville hosts Indianapolis on Sunday and Monday at Louisville Slugger Field.

That's because although Louisville lost 4-1 at Indianapolis it clinched a playoff berth with Syracuse's 8-2 loss to Rochester.

Bats bombard Indians to keep title hopes alive [Sports]

The Louisville Bats bombed the Indianapolis Indians 16-6 at Victory Field on Friday night to pull within a half-game of Columbus in the International League West with three games remaining in the regular season. The Bats lead Syracuse by three games in the IL wildcard standings and can clinch a playoff spot with a Saturday victory, or a loss by the Chiefs. Michael Griffin, left, went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored to lead Louisville at the plate.

The Louisville Bats kept their chances for a division three-peat alive Friday night.

The Bats bombed the host Indianapolis Indians 16-6 at Victory Field. The win moved Louisville (78-62) within a half-game of Columbus (79-62), which lost 5-3 to Toledo on Friday, in the International League West with three games remaining in the regular season.

The loss dropped Louisville 1 1/2 games behind Columbus, which beat Toledo on Thursday, in the International League West with four games to play. Ben Jukich and the Louisville Bats manhandled the Toledo Mud Hens on Wednesday night.

Jukich threw seven solid innings, while the Bats pounded out 11 hits to beat host Toledo 8-3 at Fifth Third Field.

The victory kept Louisville (77-61) a half-game behind Columbus (78-61), which beat Indianapolis 4-1 Wednesday, in the International League West with five games remaining in the regular season.

Bats blank Mud Hens 8-0, still lead Columbus by 1 1/2 [Sports]

A five-run seventh inning and some solid pitching propelled the Louisville Bats to an 8-0 win over the Toledo Mud Hens on Sunday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field. The victory, coupled with one by Columbus, helped Louisville maintain its 1 1/2-game lead over the Clippers in the International League West standings. Jeremy Horst, left, notched his first Triple-A victory for the Bats.

A five-run seventh inning and some solid pitching helped the Louisville Bats maintain their lead in the International League West.

The Bats beat visiting Toledo 8-0 Sunday - their 13th shutout of the season - to keep their 1 1/2-game lead over Columbus intact in the IL West. Both Louisville (76-59) and Columbus (75-61) have eight games remaining in the regular season.

Furbush, Hens beat Bats, but Louisville maintains West lead [Sports]

Toledo pitcher Charlie Furbush recovered from a shaky start to shut down the Louisville Bats' bats over the final eight innings as the Mud Hens beat Louisville 8-3 Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field. However the Bats maintained their 1 1/2-game lead in the International League West because second-place Columbus also lost.

There was bad news and good news for the Louisville Bats on Saturday night.

The bad news was that they lost to Toledo 8-3 at Louisville Slugger Field.

Chapman, Dorn, Castillo key Bats' ninth as they beat Clippers 2-1 [Sports]

Highly-touted pitching prospect Aroldis Chapman (left) a threw a 105 mile-per hour fastball, and struck out the side, in the top of the ninth inning then Danny Dorn made a key baserunning play and Wilkin Castillo delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth as Louisville beat Columbus 2-1 at Louisville Slugger Field. The victory gives the Bats a 1 1/2-game lead over the Clippers in the International League West with 10 games to play.
