64°F12:08 PM This past weekend at the Hoops facility in east Louisville, 264 athletes from all around the world came together to take part in tryouts for the NBA's Development League.
The tryouts had an international appeal. Nine countries were represented at the tryouts: Congo, Ecuador, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Niger, Puerto Rico, Romania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Sweden.

Jamil Mahuad, who governed Ecuador as president from 1998 to 2000 and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999, will speak Tues., March 30 at Bellarmine University, 2000 Norris Pl. He will discuss U.S.-Latin American relations and Latin American politics, including economic and social policies, starting at 1:30 p.m. in Frazier Hall.
One of my main concerns with traveling to South America with Jack was keeping him healthy on our trip. I am an admitted germaphobe, so I seriously would have put that kid in a plastic bubble if it was socially acceptable. It was difficult to decide with our Pediatrician which vaccinations were imperative for travel and which we could forgo.

In two and a half weeks, I am flying down to Ecuador by myself with Jack. Yes... you read that correctly, I. Am. Taking. A. Baby. To. South. America. By. Myself. Once we arrive in Quito, we will meet up with my husband (who is doing work in Peru) and some friends who live there and their brand new baby girl. When I tell people this their jaws drop. “You're flying on an airplane with Jack by yourself for over 6 hours? You're taking a baby to a third world country?!” Their faces usually crumple to a mixture of pity, fear and incredulity.
