Nothing says love like leather [Visual Art]

Leather goods from local artists make great gifts. All aboard the Black Friday/F.A.T. Friday Trolley!

“OMG where did you get that bag?” This is what you will be hearing from every woman who approaches you to ask about your Inherited Leather purse by Sue Schofield. Where can you find said purse? You’re in luck. Kaviar Forge & Gallery’s newest holiday exhibit is featuring the work of several local leather artists in order to showcase the art of finely crafted leather goods in Kentucky: masks, jewelry, hats, baskets, belts, purses, and of course saddles will all be made available to purchase.

FAT Friday Trolley Hop must-stop [Crescent Hill]

As a part of the F.A.T. Friday Hop, Gallery Janjobe will host the opening of a new exhibit, "Symbols," featuring nine pieces of work by Gena Neumann.  Each piece is made of repurposed metal with new materials and is laden with symbolism.  Stop by and have a drink and snack, enjoy some live music, and see if you can decode some art.

Hop on the F.A.T. Friday Hop this evening to check out the opening of new shows on Frankfort Avenue and throughout the Crescent Hill area.  For one a bit unconventional, Gallery Janjobe (www.galleryjanjobe.com, at the Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center) will debut its Symbols exhibit featuring the work of artist Gena Neumann.

Memorial Day musical roundup - or your alternatives to glorified Beatles karaoke [Music]

If you're in the mood for retro themed music, why not take a look at some local alternatives to our own Beatlemania which are cheaper, original, or local.

This weekend, everyone's all aflutter about  Abby Road on the River.

I don't get it. It's all Beatles. All the time. If you ask me a group of 5 "bands" are pulling off the biggest karaoke scam the world has ever seen, yet people are willing to pay anywhere from $30-70 a ticket. Maybe it's all about nostalgia for the era. Gosh, wasn't it great when a miscegenation laws were still on the books in some states and girls deserved sexual harassment for being the kind of trollop who worked outside the home in the first place.
