The Forecastle Festival may have pulled off the biggest music news of the year. Award-Winning My Morning Jacket will headline the festival in July. The Forecastle setting is exactly the type of music venue where MMJ excels. You do remember the legendary late night, rainy set at Bonnaro in 2008, right? More details will be coming soon...but here's what the Forecastle website said today:
The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is a four-day, multi-stage camping festival held on a beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee every June. This year From June 9th-12th, Bonnaroo brings together some of the best performers in rock and roll, along with dozens of artists in complementary styles such as jazz, Americana, hip-hop, electronica, and just about any contemporary music you can think of.
Cars on adjacent US Highway 150 are usually the loudest noises heard around Mount Saint Francis, home of the Conventual Franciscan province of Our Lady of Consolation. On Saturday, many of those cars will be turning into the drive and parking in the fields, as the friars of "The Mount" host their annual picnic.
For those looking for something to do other than Hullabalou, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Clarksville will hold its Parish Picnic Friday and Saturday.
Booths, live music, beer, raffles, crafts, and a chicken dinner are among the highlights to the annual event.
In the interest of full disclosure, this writer will be pouring beer in the air-conditioned comfort of the gambling area (also known as the school gymnasium) on Friday evening and will be proudly flouring pound after pound of chicken on Saturday morning and afternoon.
There's a lot more than three reasons to cross the river this weekend - if you are a lover of the libations, that is. You see, this Saturday, Indiana is host to an alcoholic's wonderland. One could make a driving tour of it. Just be sure to find a designated driver. And a time machine or some sort of teleporter wouldn't hurt, either. These events are all on Saturday and all looks spectacular.
Did you notice the beautiful bowl and plate photographed above? Those are MINE.
Do you know where I got them? An ART FAIR.
Want some beautiful dishes of your own? How about a painting? Artsy clothes or jewelry? Lawn ornaments? Then go to Art on the Parish Green this weekend.
