68°F12:40 PM Louisville’s Metro government has finally jumped the shark in the matter of regulating fireworks in Derby City. If there ever was any doubt that our town is virtually devoid of adult leadership, the continuing fireworks farrago should remove it once and for all.
The Summit will usher in holiday spirit at its signature holiday event “Lights Up” on Friday, Nov. 18 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on The Terrace. The annual event is free to attend and attracts families from all over Louisville. The North Oldham Little League All Star team has been selected for the honor of turning on The Summit’s holiday lights and kicking off the fireworks show. The team represented the region at the 65th Little League World Series this past summer.
Anecdotal evidence from neighborhoods across the country indicates that, economic weakness or not, plenty of people have firework money this year.
And this is to be expected during periods of devastating deflation such as the one we are experiencing today, because it is during deflationary periods that the worst of our economic nature stands on display.
On Monday, July 4, 2011, Sunday schedules will be operated on all lines due to the holiday. There will be no service on the following lines:
