As I have mentioned recently, delectable bites and delicious books often go hand-in-hand; rich words and rich food both satisfy our bodies with the delights of their palate-pleasing plumpness. Despite our well-known and collective dependency on the drive-thru (and ill-penned fluff), the trend of whole foods, good foods and adventurous eats are all trending in a positive pulse with those in the know.
The Fern Creek Farmers Market is now accepting applications for the stall rentals on their website. The web address is http://ferncreek.org/market.php. The link to get the application and send it in is on that page. This is a great place to get out there and sell some of your goods. So hurry up and sign up farmers, for a chance to get a spot in a great place to sell your locally grown items. There is also a chance for volunteering at the website if you need some volunteer credit.
“I believe they’ll find Charlotte people to be very warm, upbeat, hospitable, Southern and enjoyably overall. We welcome our friends from Louisville, whom we love, with the exception of when Louisville plays Carolina or Duke in basketball!!!” So started my conversation with good friend, Mike Donovan, foodie and radio god. Mike has lived in Charlotte for years, even used own a couple of restaurants.
This article could really be titled “Favorite place to catch up on all the craziness that has been going on in our lives over the last two weeks.” Occasionally it seems my lovely friend Rebecca and I go a little too long without talking and
need a proper dinner (with drinks, of course) to officially get caught up. When this happens, we most often head to Eiderdown (983 Goss Avenue) for the occasion.
From the first time I hid grated zucchini in my chirpy-toddler son’s chocolate chip muffins until a few weeks ago when I got the now-surly teen to eat a veritable bucket of pumpkin, I have, over the years, scored unimaginable goals in coaxing the boy who is a vegetarian to, um, actually eat vegetables.

Most of the limelight is usually focused on the restaurant’s acclaimed entrées, but ’tis the season of gluttony and the dessert menu beckons.
I remember when downtown lunch options could easily be listed on one hand...one pleading, shaking hand begging for more places to choose from when heading out for a midday munch.
The last few years have been good to us downtown workers, All the Fourth Street Live eateries opened, then Caviar, Safir, Sol Azteca, Qdoba, Panera and many others. But for the last couple of months I have been anxiously awaiting the opening on 4th street of Potbelly Sandwiches.

About six months ago, The Root Cellar opened on the corner of Third and Hill Streets in Old Louisville. Since then, Ron Smith, who owns the small shop, has provided the residents of the neighborhood with the freshest possible eggs, milk, meat, and produce. All foods sold at The Root Cellar come from farms in the surrounding area, providing a cozy, friendly place to easily buy and eat local.
