My favorite act at Forecastle was surprisingly not a band, it was the circus!
Louisville’s Forecastle Festival has come a long way. Ten years ago it was 100 people hanging out listening to some local music. This year, it was 30,000 people listening to over 100 bands. Here’s a roundup of the best and worst of this year’s Forecastle Festival.
As the weekend came to a sobering and screeching halt, so did the close of Forecastle. After a weekend full of drinking in the sun and listening to live music, a fan looks back.

Minus the Bear kicked off the evening's Main Stage shows on the last evening of Forecastle Festival, offering steamy tunes to complement the weather.
A cool, breezy contrast to the day's heat and psychedelia, She & Him stepped up with retro style and sweet crooning on the Main Stage of Forecastle Festival 2010.
Traditional arts were sadly underrepresented at this year's Forecastle Festival, but they did a bang-up job with a great selection of performance art.
I’m not naive enough to think the three would be anywhere close to equal, but when art is one of the attractions of a festival I expected to see more than what I could get in a housewife’s Etsy shop.
