Today marked a special day for the health of Louisvillians as Jenny Boice and Kammaleathahh Livingstone of Sustainable Health Choices hosted the grand-opening of their new office space within the Highlands-location Rainbow Blossom Natural Foods Market. Walking past the aisles stocked with produce, organic beauty products, and fascinating supplements, you’ll find the office that visibly communicates serenity and relaxation. Here I spoke to Jenny Boice.
With airborne pollen at a seasonal high in the area, symptoms such as bedeviling sneezes, swollen eyes, and runny noses plague many Louisville residents. However, a tasty and all-natural cure can help active Louisvillians get back to the city’s many outdoor offerings.
It seems like everyone is absolutely sick of our present healthcare industry. From doctors and nurses to the struggling middle class, the unemployed and the impoverished, the American healthcare industry is making everyone's bowels watery.
Co-pay prices, prescriptions and discovering that a provider with great bedside manner is outside of network, are all things that make many people tear their hair out. It wouldn't be surprising if there are people out there with post-traumatic stress disorder, onset by the exorbitant cost of modern medicine.
The body mass index (BMI) is the registering for human body fat based on your weight and height. This chart applies to everyone and can be easily accessed through web databases and even at your doctors. Kentucky recently approved an idea to have schools calculate and record the children’s BMI. This will help with keeping children from becoming obese and also work to reverse the effects of obesity.

Considering that Blue is not the only color grass that grows in our fine state, the introduction of this act is considerably overdue.
On February 25 Louisville is holding an awareness tour from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. about the Celiac disease at the Clifton Center (2117 Payne Street, 40206). If you aren't concerned about this disease maybe you should take a minute and read this. The reason I say this is because most people with this disease do not know they have it. There is no evidence as to how people get it, they just do. But if you are one of those people who have it and do not know, this meeting might be a good place to start.
The Louisville Triple Crown of Running (LTCOR) is the first running event in the area to offer a social media messaging system that connects with the runners friends and family; so as to let them know they have accomplished a goal of theirs. Louisville—just like Disney Marathon, Army 10 Miler, and the L.A. Marathon—has decided to hope on the band wagon and embrace technology. “Gault Race Management, long-time partner with the LTCOR, is bringing XAct Text and Social Media Messaging to the three-race series.
The new fitness center off of Preston Hwy is called Planet Fitness (7450 Jefferson Boulevard). It is right next to the Hobby Lobby and across from Jefferson mall. It is one of the cheapest and well kept fitness centers I have ever been in. The equipment is plentiful and the service is impeccable. I would suggest if you’re looking for a gym to try this one out.
Drinking tea is known as one of the best benefits for a person’s body. Tea can help get rid of a cold, give you antioxidants, help you to sleep, reduce risk of stroke and heart attack, keeps you hydrated, and much more. Hillbilly Tea (120 South 1st St.) offers a variety of teas as well as food. All their products come from local venders and after eating there I can honestly say it's the best food I’ve ever eaten.
