Louisville Lightning is selling out, beating opponents, and bringing love of soccer to the river city

The Lightning is the city’s latest step in becoming a part of the national soccer movement. While Louisville has played host to the U.S. Women’s National Team and other professional women’s games, this time, the city has a team it can call its own.
Unless you’re a soccer fan or soccer parent, you may not know that Louisville has a new professional sports team. It’s not pro football, it’s not pro basketball and they aren’t playing in the new arena... yet. But, the Louisville Lightning soccer IS selling out games, beating the competition and bringing a love for the game to the river city.

Monkey Wrench to hold 'Rooftop Island in the Highlands' to benefit Haiti Friday night

Get out of the January cold and outside in the heat for a good cause! Come by for dinner, fruity umbrella drinks or just to visit an outside oasis in the middle of winter, as anything guests purchase will help in aiding those in need.

This Friday night, Jan. 22nd, from 6-9 p.m., the Monkey Wrench (1025 Barret Ave.) will host a benefit for Haiti at its Rooftop Island in the Highlands.

A portion of the sales from the evening will be sent to help relief efforts in Haiti after it was left devastated from last week’s 7.0 earthquake.  Direct donations will also be taken at the door as every little bit counts and helps this demolished nation.
