Next-door neighbors Churchill Downs and the University of Louisville are teaming up for special ticket package called “Pigskins & Ponies Presented by Kroger” for the second weekend in November. For $25 fans will receive a seat in the new upper deck of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium for UofL’s Nov. 13 football game against South Florida and a reserved seat on Millionaires Row or Skye Terrace at the Downs for horse racing the next day.

Every once in a while, there is a horse race that reminds me of why I love this sport.
With the Breeders' Cup returning to historic Churchill Downs in just more than two months, your humble correspondent could no longer resist posting last Sunday's wonderful seventh race from New Jersey's Monmouth Park and the amazing call by announcer Larry Collmus.

Snooki wasn't the only feisty one on the Jersey Shore over the weekend as Bob Baffert-trained Preakness winner Lookin At Lucky won Monmouth Park's $1 million Haskell Invitational.
Ending a layoff since winning the Preakness on May 15th, Bob Baffert's Lookin At Lucky and jock Martin Garcia rolled in the $1 million Haskell Invitational at New Jersey's Monmouth Park over Trappe Shot. In a photo finish for third, First Dude bested Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver.
