The Hag and The Highwayman Hearten Horseshoe [Music]

Merle Haggard and Kris Kristofferson brought their outlaw country music roadshow to Horseshoe Casino for a night of more than was expected.

Merle Haggard & Kris Kristofferson’s March 4th gig at Horseshoe Casino was billed as an “acoustic performance.” But, upon first entering The Showroom, the first thing I laid eyes on was a couple of Fender Telecasters sitting in their cradles. Good. Looks like The Hag and The Highwayman are going to sing more then just a few campfire country songs and, instead, give us a little of that Bakersfield sound that Haggard made famous many years ago. Maybe they’re feeling good tonight and waited to start drinking after lunch.

Celeb chef Paula Deen to visit Horseshoe Southern Indiana for buffet opening [Food and Dining]

Paula Deen stops by Kentuckiana at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, to celebrate the opening of her buffet at Horseshoe Casino with a ribbon-cutting and charitable brunch. Butter supplies expected to plunge in the wake of her visit.

Celebrity chef (and arguable Queen of Butter) Paula Deen will bring her saucy wit and Southern twang to the area Friday, Sept. 3, for the opening of The Paula Deen Buffet at Horseshoe Southern Indiana, the casino right across the river from Louisville in Elizabeth, Ind.

A writer and a sociologist go to a Stephen Lynch concert

There was a time when seeing Stephen Lynch in concert was a lot like seeing a live performance of his albums. Things have changed.
There was a time when seeing Stephen Lynch in concert was a lot like seeing a live performance of his albums. I've seen him in some skeezy bars where the regulars were a lot more interested in a $10 bucket of Bud's than some pretty boy singer who mentions butt sex every third song. Not that they have anything against butt sex, but they don't need a pretty boy bragging he gets it more than they do.

Things have changed.

See Stephen Lynch live at Horseshoe tonight

Before tonight's concert, Stephen Lynch answers a few of our burning questions.
If you haven't seen Stephen Lynch before, his wholesome good looks and sweet melodies might fool you into thinking he's about to sing that your body is a wonderland...that he just polluted with herpes.

His cult following doesn't care. We'll cheerfully say "Thank you sir, may I have another," no matter how much it burns.

New takes on Who classics and rarities highlights of Use It or Lose It tour's only Louisville-area stop
Roger Daltrey isn't The Who's wordsmith, but his introduction to Saturday night's solo concert at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana's Showroom was spot on: "There's enough misery out there," Daltrey said just after walking onstage to a standing ovation from the near-capacity crowd. "Let's have some fun."

Louisville area's best upcoming concerts

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Roger Daltrey are must-see concerts
Before you complain that your favorite musical act didn't make this article--or that it made the one on Louisville's worst upcoming concerts--let me remind you: I get paid to share my opinions and you probably don't, so mine are superior. That's called capitalism. AC/DC Kentucky Exposition Center’s Freedom Hall Oct. 6, 8 p.m.
