In an earlier article I discussed the man that made Churchill Downs a reality. However, what my main question now is about the track itself, once it was built what did that mean for the city of Louisville.
If you are still busy trying to find kid-friendly and cost-effective ways to celebrate All-Hallows Eve this weekend, you might want to pencil in some time to check out NorthEast Christian Church on Saturday night.
Starting at 6:30pm on October 30th at their 9900 Brownsboro Road campus, the church will present "KIDabaLOU," a free event tagged with the phrase "Candy. Costumes. Craziness." Attractions are promised to include live music, trunk-or-treating, food, a hayride, photo booth and more.
After losing a reported $5 million on the inaugural HullabaLOU, Churchill Downs Inc. cancelled next year's festival and put down its entertainment division today. In a press release, CDI blamed the festival's poor showing on hot weather and a cold economy.
Churchill Downs Inc. followed Richard Marx's lead and bailed on HullabaLOU, canceling its attempt at a music festival in 2011, just two months after announcing it would in fact return next year.
Last night I went to Headliners Music Hall with my husband to see 10 years in concert. My husband is a rocker at heart and in his youth, but due to crappy assignments and a recent deployment to Afghanistan he has not had his fill of concerts. He heard about the 10 years concert on 93.1 the Fox Rocks (which he listens to a lot considering his 45 minute commute each way to Ft. Knox) and I agreed, only because he was so excited about it.
See if you can spot the difference between the Kenny Chesney fans and
the Dave Matthews Band fans. I'll give you a hint - there's more to it
than the headgear.
Straw coyboy hats and cowboy boots were the outfit of choice at HullabaLOU on Saturday. For those of you who think we're showing off too much lovely lady flesh check out our equal opportunity photo gallery of sexy shirtless men.
It wasn't all potbellies and leathery flesh on the infield at HullabaLOU. Check out some of the sexy men who did us the kindness of going shirtless to beat the heat.
