Railroad Earth’s sound isn’t country; and it isn’t bluegrass, and it isn’t rock. But they do mix all of those genres extremely well to create a hard to characterize collection of tunes.
Railroad Earth played to a packed house at Headliners Music Hall Friday night. The sextet from New Jersey had a close to capacity crowd grooving and jumping to their multitudinous array of instrumental sounds, reflecting a sense of Americana roots mixed with a jam band sensibility.

Widespread Panic, who headlined last year's Forecastle Festival with two shows, are returning in 2010 to play at 9:15 p.m. on July 9 at the West Stage.
