Bonnie Raitt Delivers Emotionally Stunning, Beautiful Performance in Celebration of Mother’s Day, Release of Slipstream [Music]

Bonnie Raitt's star shines magically on her audience for Mother's Day, release of new album, Slipstream.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bonnie Raitt took to the stage in Louisville on Mother’s Day at The Kentucky Center’s Whitney Hall to celebrate the release of her nineteenth studio album, Slipstream and boldly delivered an emotionally stunning performance decked with hard-hitting new songs and old fan favorites.  The hoarse-voiced Raitt happily embraced the friendly crowd, claiming the band was excited to be back in the intimate Louisville setting on such an overcast, dreary Sunday night.   And it is not just any Sunday, it is Mother’s Day and to celebr

John Prine shines at Louisville Palace [Music]

John Prine played a spirited two-hour set Friday night to an appreciative crowd at The Louisville Palace, performing songs that spanned his 40-year career. Sara Watkins was a worthy opener who also proved to be a fine duet partner for Prine.

From the opening chords of Spanish Pipedream to the ensemble version of Paradise that closed the show, John Prine charmed a warmly receptive audience Friday night at The Louisville Palace — and with good reason.

John Prine to spin a yarn or two at the Louisville Palace Friday [Music]

Singer-songwriter John Prine will be bringing nearly 40 years worth of material with him to The Louisville Palace on Friday night. Sara Watkins will open the show, which starts at 8:00.
John Prine is such a good storyteller you have to wonder if he read people's letters when he was an Illinois mailman in the late 60s. This Friday, October 22, Prine will bring a ton of classic story songs like Sam Stone, Hello in There, and Angel From Montgomery with him to the Louisville Palace. Sara Watkins will be opening the show, which starts at 8:00 P.M.

Upcoming concerts for a post music festival Louisville [Music]

Now that Forecastle and HullabaLOU have passed, here's a rundown of an eclectic mix of Louisville concerts scheduled for August-October, including Randy Newman, Stars, John Prine, and My Morning Jacket.

With Forecastle and HullabaLOU now history, the festival season may be over, but there's plenty of upcoming shows of note in Louisville to make the rest of your summer and the beginning of your fall pleasant and filled with song.

Keep in mind, this is not a comprehensive list and doesn't include the notable roster of acts performing at the Kentucky State Fair in late August nor the last two Waterfront Wednesdays of the season (August 25 and September 29). Also, October marks the opening of the KFC Yum! Center and with that some significant shows.
