Louisville Councilman David James helps kids obtain free eyeglasses [Opinion: The Arena]

“When I became aware some students at Cochran were in need of glasses but could not afford them, that’s when I began to find ways to help.”

child eyeglasses 1.jpgLouisville Metro Councilman David James (Dem., 6th Dist.) announced today that he is leading an effort to have children at Cochran Elementary fitted for eye glasses.  “It is important that everyone support learning in our classrooms and sometimes that learning is hampered if children are visually impaired,” says James.

32°, A Yogurt Bar opening to benefit Kosair Children's Hospital [Food and dining]

32°, A Yogurt Bar will offer $5 all-you-care-to-eat yogurt to celebrate the store's grand opening Sept. 29 at its location in The Summit. All proceeds of the event will benefit Kosair Children's Hospital.

Food and charity will make a nice pair next week at 32°, A Yogurt Bar, a frozen yogurt shop that will host its Louisville grand opening from 5 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at The Summit.

Guests at the celebration can help themselves to a cup of all-you-care-to-eat frozen yogurt and toppings for a $5 donation. 32° will give all proceeds from the event to Kosair Children's Hospital, according to a news release from the company.

St. Baldrick's @ the Nach Bar

At the Nach Bar's St. Baldrick's event, young and old, male and female sit side by side, and face the clippers as part of the worldwide effort of shaving the way to conquer kid's cancer.
