Kentucky Opera mounts a new production of Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Brown Theatre next week. Director Kristine McIntyre was inspired by classic film noir to tell the dark tale of this famous womanizer.
The last production of Kentucky Opera's 60th Anniversary Season is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Don Giovanni. Called a dramma giocoso for its mix of of serious and comic elements (in other words, a "dramedy"), Don Giovanni is based on the story of the infamous seducer Don Juan....

Kentucky Opera begins the season with the darkly romantic Carmen by Georges Bizet. Four strong lead performances make this a show you shouldn't miss.
There's nothing quite like a night at the opera -- especially an opening night when everyone is elegantly dressed and looking forward to a classic like Bizet's Carmen. It was nice to be part of full house in the Brown Theater -- a reflection of the consistently fine job that Kentucky Opera...
