61°F7:40 AM The trademark garland of roses that are presented to the Kentucky Derby winning jockey as he or she returns to the winner’s circle have been a tradition since 1932 when the first garland was presented after the 58th running of the Kentucky Derby which was won by Burgoo King. Since 1987, the garland has been annually made by the Kroger Company.

The University of Louisville and Churchill Downs are pairing up once again for Pigskins & Ponies Presented by Kroger. This is the second year the special $25 weekend ticket package has been offered. Fans who purchase the limited ticket package will receive a seat in the upper "UPS flight" deck of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium as the U of L Cardinals take on the Syracuse Orangemen this Saturday at noon.
