All Quiet on the Western Front is one of the greatest war films of all time. Based on a novel and made in 1930, it tells the story of a German soldier fighting in World War I. It is an anti-war film, in which the young protagonist is caught up in the perceived glory of serving his country.
Last week, Cinemark Tinseltown kicked off their fall series of classic films with the John Huston film The African Queen. It is an epic adventure set during the Great War. Of course, maybe epic isn't the right word when we take into account today's special film screening: Lawrence of Arabia.
