In 2000 you’d think we were boarding the U.S.S. enterprise when we went to that first game at Louisville Slugger Field.
Needless to say, it's been a difficult second half for the Louisville Bats. With injuries mounting in Cincinnati, that spells a call for help from Louisville. The Bats have lost the likes of Zack Cozart, Todd Frazier, Dontrelle Willis, Dave Sappelt, Yonder Alonso and others off and on to the Reds. While we love to see our Bats move on to the Big Leagues, it's tough watching the struggles that tend to ensue.
After an impressive Independence Day duel with the Clippers that ended in a walk-off 13th inning victory for the Bats and a dominating performance Tuesday night, the Bats will try and sweep the 1st place Clippers tonight at Slugger Field.
Being new to Louisville (and a huge Reds fan), I had to see what the Bats are all about. Just in this last week, I’ve enjoyed a wonderful home stand filled with great baseball and a nice family atmosphere. Whether you’re lounging on a blanket in the grassy “Homerun Terrace” in left, waiting in line at the carousel in the “KidZone” in right, or sitting at a picnic table in front of the Overlook Grill in centerfield, there truly is not a bad seat in the house.
With the opening of baseball season a few weeks ago and as we get deeper into the game that made Ruth, Marris, and Bench a star it’s about time to look at how local Louisville Bats are doing with the Cincinnati Reds, keeping in mind that chances are a number of the Bats are destined for the pros in the near future, Yonder Alonso I’m looking in your direction.
Current Reds Bill Bray, Mike Leake (the 2009 College World Series pitcher), Sam LeCure, Matt Maloney, and Travis Wood were all in the Bats bullpen in 2009, prior to moving up to Great American Ballpark.

The Louisville Bats let one slip away.
The host Indianapolis Indians scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat the Bats 4-2 Sunday afternoon at Victory Field.
However despite the loss Louisville (72-56) maintained its half-game lead over Columbus (72-57) in the International League West because the Clippers lost 4-2 to Toledo on Sunday evening.

Aaron Harang got hammered again and the Louisville Bats managed only three hits as their franchise-best home win streak came to an end.
The Syracuse Chiefs scored six earned runs in six innings off Harang, in his second rehab start with the Bats, on their way to an 8-1 win in front of 8,915 Friday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Another night, another grand slam for Devin Mesoraco, another victory for the Louisville Bats.
One night after hitting a walk-off, grand slam in his Triple-A debut to beat Syracuse, Mesoraco hit a second-inning granny to lead Louisville to a 6-2 victory over the Chiefs on Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field.
