64°F8:25 AM Earth Day was established more than forty years ago as an environmental "teach-in" designed to raise awareness about ecology and the preservation of our precious ecosystem. Since then, and thanks to its official sanction by the UN, it has been celebrated every year in more than 175 countries around the world, and has energized whole populations to create lasting policies that protect our planet's future.
Louisville’s beautiful Water Pumping Station, on River Road at Zorn Avenue, is scheduled for a major make-over soon. More than 150 years of Louisville Water Company history will be preserved, renovated and put on display as the company gears up for a $2.35 million interior restoration project at its landmark original Pumping Station.

Louisville Water Company posted this letter to its customers on its website, which it asked us to share with you:
A series of water main breakages continues to disrupt business for several Douglass Loop establishments, including Heine Bros. Coffee. The popular local microroastery has been closed since early Saturday morning, with patrons invited to visit one of their other Highlands-area locations.
Pizza and sandwich shop Fat Jimmy’s has had intermittent operations since the disruption, reopening on Sunday only to close again on Monday. As of the time of this writing, it is open again. “They’re working on it now,” says assistant manager Justin Edwards.
