The Earth Day party of the century rages on all month at the Louisville Zoo [Family & Parenting]

The Earth Day party of the century rages on all month at the Louisville Zoo
Who says Earth Day can only be celebrated on April 22? The Louisville Zoo is challenging this notion by hosting a whole month's worth of Earth Day festivities that honor the beauty of our environment and promote the Zoo's ongoing conservation efforts.

Earth Day was established more than forty years ago as an environmental "teach-in" designed to raise awareness about ecology and the preservation of our precious ecosystem. Since then, and thanks to its official sanction by the UN, it has been celebrated every year in more than 175 countries around the world, and has energized whole populations to create lasting policies that protect our planet's future.

“Louisville Water’s history is Louisville’s history and it is rich with scientific and engineering innovation and architectural achievement,” said Louisville Water President & CEO Greg Heitzman. “This project is part of our longstanding commitment to preserve the infrastructure and stories about the people who have guided us to where we are today.”

Louisville’s beautiful Water Pumping Station, on River Road at Zorn Avenue, is scheduled for a major make-over soon.  More than 150 years of Louisville Water Company history will be preserved, renovated and put on display as the company gears up for a $2.35 million interior restoration project at its landmark original Pumping Station.

Free bottled water and boil advisory due to water main break [news]

Louisville Water Company is giving away bottled water while supplies last, and boundaries are defined for those who should boil their water.
After a water main break on the hottest day of the summer, much  of downtown and surrounding areas are without water or air conditioning.  A good portion of the city is under a boil advisory.

According to the Louisville.gov, the boundary for those who should boil their water is the Ohio River to the north, Watterson Expressway to the south, 9th street to the west and Bardstown-Baxter Avenue to the east. See the image included.
