Hillbilly Outfield preview [Kentucky Derby]
It takes a special man to open his house to 500 strangers on Derby Day. Every year at Derby, Jim Hafendorfer locks up his house and invites the world into his yard. People bring tents and camp all weekend. You can play some cornhole, take a dip in the pool, and keep up with the races all without keeping away from the infield's crowds.
Your $40 admission is good for all weekend and includes all you can eat and drink, a silent auction, and the party itself.
Around The Town: Middletown
Middletown is one of the most historic locations within Jefferson County, originally chartered in 1797. Along with having a long and charming past on its resume, it also served as a portal for the journey for most spectators into Valhalla for the Ryder Cup. Its residents are proud of the deep heritage, beautiful scenery and neighborhood feel.
