Sports legends of the Ville: The Tiger [Sports]

Walt Terrell is a man that has made an important impact everywhere he's gone. Today, in Sports legends of the Ville, I take a look at those impacts.

In 1982 a young man from Jeffersonville, Indiana made his debut as a major league baseball starting pitcher.

Walt Terrell, quickly became a staple of that New York Met team where he played his early years. After being drafted as a standout at Morehead State College, the Mets had made a trade with the Texas Rangers for Terrell.

Our next highlighted athlete for a legend of Louisville sports takes on to the gridiron.

Outside of Paul Hornung, Louisville has produced several notable Superbowl champions. Extraordinarily, the next sports legend of the Ville is Phil Simms.

A graduate of Southern High School, where people became aware of his football slinging, Simms came to national attention when he started at Morehead State. Despite being in a relatively small school, Simms’ athletic prowess turned plenty of heads.
While wearing the Eagle blue of Morehead State, Simms nabbed a school record 5,545 yards.

Gaines averaged nearly 14 points per game this past season, as he helped lead the Eagles to a 21-9 record.

"The summer ids going pretty good," Gaines said. "I'm just trying to get better. I'm struggling with my shot right now, so I'm working on that."
