Eight Options for Mother's Day [Food & Dining]

Treat your mommy to a meal she doesn't have to cook!

You will only ever have one mom, and if she's anything like my mommy, she is priceless beyond measure. My own mother has spent the last twenty-three years baking things for my insatiable appetite, doing this dishes and forgoing her own hobbies to spend time working for her family. This mothers day, I want to treat my mom to an amazing meal that she doesn't have to cook, clean up after, or think about too hard. Lucky for me, Louisville restaurants are ready and willing to provide some fantastic options!

Editor of the popular ‘This I Believe’ series, Dan Gediman shares the latest collections of essays just in time for Mother’s Day tomorrow evening, Thursday, May 10th at 7pm.

Motherhood is a complicated subject.  Often riddled with sitcom stereotypes or empowered with empty platitudes, the Great Mystery of Life gets gift-wrapped this weekend for 24 hours of bite-sized Hallmark bliss.  And while I will admittedly accept with gratitude a token of Mother’s Day thanks, my thoughts on the concept of parenthood run deeper than any greeting card could print – and use more expletives than would be acceptable for mass consumption.  While words may never fully capture the dual nature of Motherhood’s overwhelming love and pain relation

There are a few Mother's Day traditions that are ubiquitous to the Louisville-area.

You must get mom a card.

You must take her to lunch or dinner.

And you accompany her to the Art in the Arbor.

The two-day fine arts and crafts festival, which is in its 43rd year, is annually held on Mother's Day weekend on the grounds behind the Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church.

Staycation Spotlight: Mother's Day Weekend [Southern Indiana]

This week's staycation spotlight is targeted for those still seeking the perfect Mother's Day weekend for the mother(s) in their life.

Looking for something special to do with the mother(s) in your life this weekend? A Mother's Day Weekend Staycation is a splendid way to show your appreciation and love.

The goal here is to provide a vacation for Mom, so don't forget the main caveat of a good staycation: NO WORK. For her, that is. Your job is to ensure she gets the break she deserves. But with a little planning up front, the weekend can be a rewarding experience for all. Here's what to do:

Where to go in Louisville to shop for mom [Mother's Day]

While it's not always easy to buy for your mother or wife on Mother's Day, here are a few places around town you may want to check out in case you need some ideas.

No matter what we give our mothers on Mother's Day, it can never do justice to the sacrifices they have made for us. No bottles of Jean Naté or Enjoli could ever repay them for what they have done, not to mention labor itself. Conversely, while trying to give back equally is a futile attempt, giving no gift on Mother's Day is not an option, either.
