If you’re visiting Louisville and attending NCAA 2nd and 3rd round games, welcome. Your excitement helped fill the KFC Yum! Center on the opening day of the NCAA Tournament. Fans were sporting their spectrum of colors as they waited anxiously for the front doors of the arena to open to the public at 10:45 this a.m.
As you’ve pretended to be a college basketball expert and filled out your tournament bracket this year, you may have noticed four Kentucky basketball programs amidst the field of 68. Generally speaking, when one says “Kentucky Basketball,” one is referring to only one team. This year, “Kentucky Basketball” means something completely different.

He thinks U of L versus UK is the hottest rivalry in college sports, that Louisville desperately needs an NBA team, and he’s a proud alum of Murray State University – whose basketball team has been surprisingly ranked as high as 9th in the country, this season. Kendrick Haskins has strong beliefs about sports. Not surprising to learn that WAVE-3’s sports’ reporter and weekend anchor can still admit to being a “kid at heart.” And kids love games, right?
The Indiana Hoosiers knocked Kentucky from the undefeated ranks in December. Georgetown followed suit a few weeks later by handing Louisville it’s first loss of the season. Still, the basketball mad Bluegrass State can boast THREE undefeated NCAA teams.
Scouting Memphis
Memphis, No. 11 in the AP’s preseason poll, dropped out of the top 25 this week with its 76-72 home loss to unbeaten Murray State. The Tigers (5-3) return all five starters from last year’s 25-10 team and was the preseason pick to win Conference USA
Sophomore guard Will Barton leads Memphis with 20.4 points and 7.6 rebounds a game. The fast-paced Memphis attack is 16th in the nation at 81.1 points a contest.
