The Forecastle Festival may have pulled off the biggest music news of the year. Award-Winning My Morning Jacket will headline the festival in July. The Forecastle setting is exactly the type of music venue where MMJ excels. You do remember the legendary late night, rainy set at Bonnaro in 2008, right? More details will be coming soon...but here's what the Forecastle website said today:
The week prior to New Year’s Day is often a time to relax and take in the end of the year, spending gift cards, and making plans for the all-important New Year’s Eve celebrations. The end of a year is also a time when many people donate the most time and money to causes near and dear. A diverse group of artists from around the Commonwealth gather in Louisville to share their talents on stage.
Good job, guys.
Some may call Rolling Stone a dinosaur, but the magazine’s editors still know what we locals have for some time now: Kentucky bands know how to rock.
In a newly unveiled year-end recap of the “50 Best Albums of 2011,” local favorites My Morning Jacket and Cage the Elephant (okay, they’re from Bowling Green, but still) not only placed, but placed high, with MMJ’s Circuital at #11 and Elephant’s Thank You Happy Birthday close behind at #15.
My Morning Jacket is ready to usher in the holiday season with a special Christmas-themed iTunes Session EP out today! This comes after a busy year that included tours through the U.S. and Europe, and the release of the bands 6th full-length album, Circuital, which just secured a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album. My Morning Jacket has at least one more surprise up their sleeve before the year is out.
Louisville's My Morning Jacket will reclaim the stage at Madison Square Garden on Dec 14 along with Band Of Horses. But you gotta hurry because MMJ sold out MSG on NYE in NYC in 2008. How bout that use of acronyms? So, anyway, an allotment of tickets are being offered to MMJ's email subscribers for today only (Sept 21). Regular ticket sales will be opened to the general public on Friday, September 23.
My Morning Jacket has debuted a new eye-popping, euphoric video for “Holdin On To Black Metal.” The guys gave an early preview of the video on Monday night when several members posted it on their Google+ accounts, resulting in one of the first music video premieres shared within Google's new social network.
Two Kentucky musicians, Louisville's My Morning Jacket and Edmonton's Black Stone Cherry both debuted their latest albums on May 31.
