The Forecastle Festival may have pulled off the biggest music news of the year.  Award-Winning My Morning Jacket will headline the festival in July.  The Forecastle setting is exactly the type of music venue where MMJ excels.  You do remember the legendary late night, rainy set at Bonnaro in 2008, right?  More details will be coming soon...but here's what the Forecastle website said today:

Performers were more than happy to donate their time to support Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, now in their 30th year. Sponsors and supporters sold out the venue within 15 minutes of the doors opening, leaving standing room only for the show and little discussion as to the popularity of the event, the performers.

The ambiance of the Brown Theater provided an inviting environment for the stellar performance by influential and talented artists.  Supporters of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth along with a host of sponsors from around Kentucky introduced the evening and the organization with a short documentary featuring Ivy Brashear, a self-described activist and native to the mountains of Kentucky.  The informative film focused on Brashear’s idea of home and her continuing efforts to preserve the land so many people call home.

The end of a year is also a time when many people donate the most time and money to causes near and dear. A diverse group of artists from around the Commonwealth gather in Louisville to share their talents on stage.
