Drive By Truckers weigh in at Headliners [music]

Story time had just begun with songs 'George Jones Talkin Cell Phone Blues' and 'The Buford Stick.' Simply unpolished emotion drains out the Truckers song after song dislocating thoughts as they discharge stories of country, grit and soul to extended ears.

To kick off the show, the Drive By Truckers brought along an amazing artist, the one and only Nikki Lane, a self-proclaimed indie-country musician. She has a unique sound, something like a 2012 version of Loretta Lynn with a dash of Merle Haggard on the side. Nikki and her band took the stage for over an hour, featuring songs about new beginnings and reuniting with that special someone in "Gone Gone Gone" and "Coming Home to You."

UK took down Florida Tuesday and looks forward to their game at Vandy on Saturda
Kentucky’s win over Florida gives fans some insight into what may happen Saturday at Vandy, and in March.

Playing Vandy at home is equally troublesome as playing Kentucky at Rupp. The Wildcats are set to leave for Vandy early Saturday while still relishing the win over Florida Tuesday evening.  The Gators put up a decent fight in the first half, yet Kentucky took charge later in the first half and dominated in the second.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band triumph at Nashville's Sommet Center in what might have been one of their final shows

Playing of entire 'Born to Run' album highlight of closest show to Louisville on Working on a Dream tour
It's not clear how many audience members realized that Wednesday night at Nashville's Sommet Center probably was their last Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert. After almost two straight years of touring, Springsteen and E Street are going on hiatus after tonight's show in Buffalo. With most of the band members in their 60s, saxophonist Clarence "Big Man" Clemons's health issues and recent remarks from band members, the odds are good that Nashville saw one of rock's greatest live acts' third-to-last show.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band play Nashville's Sommet Center Wednesday

Tickets still available for Working on a Dream tour's closest stop to Louisville
In July 1999 I drove 627 miles from my home in Charlotte, N.C. to New Jersey to see my first Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert. Five days later I did it again. Since then I've seen Springsteen with his "heart-stopping, pants-dropping, hard-rocking, booty-shaking, Earth-quaking, nerve-breaking, Viagra-taking, history-making, legendary E Street Band" 25 times. I've also caught another 15 Springsteen shows where he's played solo or fronted other musicians.

Louisville area's best upcoming concerts

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Roger Daltrey are must-see concerts
Before you complain that your favorite musical act didn't make this article--or that it made the one on Louisville's worst upcoming concerts--let me remind you: I get paid to share my opinions and you probably don't, so mine are superior. That's called capitalism. AC/DC Kentucky Exposition Center’s Freedom Hall Oct. 6, 8 p.m.
