CVS developers ‘taken aback’ at local attention over Twig and Leaf plans

Kroger has abandoned plans to build a gas station on the site of Hollywood Video, to the south of its store at 2410 Bardstown Road.

Bardstown Road Overlay District committee members met with representatives from The Zaremba Group, which is looking to build a CVS at the corner of Bardstown Rd. and Douglass Blvd., on the site of current properties including the Twig and Leaf diner and Farah Cleaners.

CVS looking to buy and level Douglass Loop-area properties, close Kroger location

 

A Cleveland-based property development firm is acting on behalf of CVS to investigate purchasing a strip of property along Bardstown Rd. near Douglass Loop for a new store. The current buildings include the Twig and Leaf, the landmark diner that has stood at the corner of Bardstown and Douglass since 1941. Also in the strip are the properties formerly occupied by Dragon Garden and Club Grotto, up to 121 Main Place Hair Studio and Dundee Candy Shop.

As any college student with a car knows, it can be tough to find a parking space when you’re rushed. But those at Bellarmine University who skip the parking lot option—or truly can’t find a spot—have inflamed nearby residents who now find their own parking situation compromised.
