Louisville necrosculpturist Nix fashions sculptures of real and mythical creatures from animal bones

Subjects range from snake eating its tail to baby possum skeleton resting peacefully
Nix's first work is one of his largest, six feet tall and three feet wide. "Bone Calling" is an abstract patterns made from bones over a board covered with fabric that he completed in 1997. The bones are mostly cow jaws, dog skulls, deer skulls and bones and "various other bits and pieces.""I was always interested in horror and dark arts and just weird things in general: oddities, freaks of nature. I had expressed interest to a friend of mine who has a farm that I was interested in getting some animal bones.

Scare Halloween trick-or-treaters twice with necrosculpturist Nix's scarecrow prank

All it takes is you, a friend and a costume to scare the bejesus out of people
Louisville-based necrosculpturist Nix, who'll be profiled next week on Louisville.com, has this suggestion for scaring trick-or-treaters on Halloween: You need two people. Dress your front porch with fall and Halloween decorations. Turn off all of the lights to your house, except the front porch so trick-or-treaters know you're giving our candy.
