John Prine shines at Louisville Palace [Music]

John Prine played a spirited two-hour set Friday night to an appreciative crowd at The Louisville Palace, performing songs that spanned his 40-year career. Sara Watkins was a worthy opener who also proved to be a fine duet partner for Prine.

From the opening chords of Spanish Pipedream to the ensemble version of Paradise that closed the show, John Prine charmed a warmly receptive audience Friday night at The Louisville Palace — and with good reason.

Singer-songwriter John Prine will be bringing nearly 40 years worth of material with him to The Louisville Palace on Friday night. Sara Watkins will open the show, which starts at 8:00.

John Prine is such a good storyteller you have to wonder if he read people's letters when he was an Illinois mailman in the late 60s. This Friday, October 22, Prine will bring a ton of classic story songs like Sam Stone, Hello in There, and Angel From Montgomery with him to the Louisville Palace. Sara Watkins will be opening the show, which starts at 8:00 P.M.

Sunday at Forecastle Festival 2010, Sara Watkins showed off her virtuoso fiddle playing and emotive voice and proved she has a bright future with or without Nickel Creek.

If you are known for your acoustic, bluegrass-inspired country-folk, opening your set with a Fleetwood Mac song may seem odd. Not if you're Sara Watkins. The fiddle-playing third of NickeL Creek has recently stepped out on her own with a self-titled debut solo album released last year. Sunday at Forecastle Festival 2010, Watkins played an eclectic and inspired set of originals and covers.
