Tailgating at a horse race? Keeneland fans know how to do it [Sports]

Tailgating is not just for football. Keeneland is the place where racing fans know how to party.

Pulling into the parking lot of Keeneland Race Course, the scene was more similar to a U of L football game than a day at the races. Unique to Keeneland is the tailgating area located near Gate 1. Lawn chairs, coolers, and grills are encouraged and a free shuttle is even available to take the revelers to the grandstand.

One woman's tale of the most wholesome afternoon she's ever spent drunk. I wasn't a Kenny Chesney fan before HullabaLOU, but the next time he's here in Louisville I'm buying tickets just so I can hang out with the tailgaters.

Partying in a parking lot never made sense to me before this year's Derby.

I've never been to a live sporting event where the athletes were human. You're more likely to find me at DragonCon than a UK Game - and trust me, while a crowd of 30,000 people needs space to park, nerds don't hang out in parking lots. Asphalt messes up the hems of our pretty costumes.
