Louisville's ROAM running group preps athletes for the Derby Marathon and miniMarathon [Fitness and health]

Runners on a Mission kicks off its 2011 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon training with its 6th anniversary group Reunion and Recruitment event. The walker-friendly running group and its training programs are free, and the event is open to the public. ROAM Louisville, and train for the race of your dreams!

The Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon are decidedly the most celebrated and primed-for annual road races in Louisville, so it's no surprise that training options for these simultaneous races are as abundant and as varied as those who dream of running them.

Are Kentucky Derby party indulgences in your immediate future? Plan your recovery with the Throo the Zoo 5k and the Norton Healthcare Get Healthy Walking Club for Zoo Walkers.

Now that you've enjoyed another outstanding Thunder, I smell Derby Pies in your future. It may be too late to train and enter this year's Triple Crown of Running, including this weekend's Kentucky Derby Marathon and Mini-marathon, but it's not too late to blow the dust off your New Year's Resolutions, and head on over to the Louisville Zoo for fun and fitness.

Get off (or earn) your Duff. Sign up for the Triple Crown of Running!

Even if you haven't yet spent more than ten minutes outside in all of 2010, it's not too late to start training for the Triple Crown of Running! This annual three-race event, leading up to and in celebration of the Kentucky Derby, begins with the Anthem 5K Fitness Classic, which is set for Saturday, March 6th. 5K's, (3.1 miles), are a great way to start or reestablish a serious running addiction and are a lot less expensive than drugs ($20 registration if you enter before February 22nd).
