The Wildcats are back in Lexington for a fierce fight with the Gators [Sports]

The No.1/1 Wildcats plan to show no mercy to No.7/7 Gators; former Wildcat John Pelphrey will be on the receiving end of the Wildcat wrath.

Most any game played in the Southeastern Conference, against Kentucky is a rivalry; in terms of the Big Blue Nation.  In the words Coach Cal spoke at Midnight Madness this season, “You guys are crazy.”  The Florida game will be the “War in Rupp” as the Gators are on the case with a 7 game winning streak with a big win over Vandy (73-65) at home this past Saturday.  Kentucky will not be bullied, 23-1 overall, 9-0 in SEC play, and looking to increase the winning streak to 16.

Terrance Jones will take the two points and the foul in the 69-44 win over UT.
The #1 University of Kentucky Men's Basketball is on a roll at 22-1 overall and 8-0 in the SEC. The Cats did well in the Nike Platinum colored uniforms.

Following another win for the Wildcats at home, Head Coach John Calipari was in a jovial mood as he talked about his team, "We were really good defensively. This was a hard game".

Wildcat fans, get ready to stay up late tonight; Kentucky hosts Arkansas at Rupp [Sports]

UK takes on the Razorbacks of Arkansas tonight at 9pm EST
Coach Cal and his No. 2 Wildcats return to Rupp for two in a row, against SEC opponents, Arkansas tonight and Alabama Saturday. The Razorbacks roll into Lexington off a 69-60 victory over LSU.

For last Saturday’s contest, where the Cats barely took down Tennessee, the officiating was the story of the day, although Kidd-Gilchrist’s double-double and Anthony Davis’ 18 points, as well as McBee’s McStache were honorable mentions in the media after the close win.  Now that the Cats are back in Lexington, Coach Cal is looking forward to a new challenge, Arkansas.

Kentucky travels to Louisville, brings along the Big Blue Nation [Sports]

Miller reaches 1000 points in his career at Kentucky
Kentucky turned Freedom Hall BLUE for the night, and Darius Miller walked away as the newest member of the 1000 point club at Kentucky, now with 58 members.

Many Kentucky fans in Louisville look forward to the annual game in Freedom Hall, sponsored by the University of Kentucky Alumni Association in Louisville.  The meeting between University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Kentucky brought fans out on a chilly evening in Louisville.  Darius Miller was the star of the evening as he joins 57 other Kentucky players to reach 1000 points in their Wildcat careers.

Kentucky and Arkansas at Little Rock to meet in Freedom Hall; the YUM! Center is apparently off limits to the Big Blue Nation [Sports]

UK will host UALR at Freedom Hall, Tuesday at 7pm
Saturday’s “W” over Louisville certainly gives Kentucky supporters new found confidences in the freshman stand outs Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Anthony Davis. Coach Cal and the Wildcats will roll into Louisville off an ugly, but meaningful win against Louisville and call Freedom Hall home for a night as the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Trojans come out to play.

Let's assume for a moment that the reason Kentucky is not playing UALR in in the YUM! Center is because Louisville is playing St. John's the same evening. The kicker here is that U of L will be in New York that night.  Rick isn't quite ready to let Cal in his house, at least for now.

It was a foul fest and it wasn’t pretty; Kentucky takes Louisville 69-62 [Sports]

UK wins 69-62 over Louisville
There are two things that fans for both Louisville and Kentucky will remember about today’s game; one being Kentucky won and the other, the unnecessary number of fouls called. With a total of 52 fouls; 29 for the Cardinals and 23 for the Cats, it is amazing only two players fouled out of the game.

Fans started talking ‘smack’ round about Monday, on both sides and only time would tell which team would walk away from Rupp with bragging rights for the next year.  Now, the first meeting between the teams when both were ranked nationally in top 5, is finished and the Wildcats remain undefeated in Rupp under Head Coach John Calipari.

The tip goes to Louisville and they score two

The Big Blue Nation anxiously awaits the arrival of the recently defeated Cardinals in Rupp Arena [Sports]

UK basketball coach John Calipari
New Year’s Eve marks the annual celebration of why Kentucky is a basketball state. For one day, those who bleed blue will proudly defend University of Kentucky’s superior talents to those of U of L, to the final buzzer. A high stakes game on New Year’s Eve will set the tone for the new year and put to end the endless speculation about which team is the best in the Bluegrass

The first meeting between the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville men’s basketball teams resulted in a win for the Wildcats back in 1913 with a score of 34-10, bragging rights for UK fans on this one. The series, which gained momentum in the 1980’s after a 24 year lapse in meetings, now stands at 28-14; again, bragging rights for UK fans. Rick’s move to Louisville fueled the fire and for Kentucky, it became even more important to win against Louisville.

What Coach Rick Pitino and the Louisville players had to say about Kentucky [Sports]

University of Louisville Cardinals
Rick Pitino said his team would not hold a press conference prior to Saturday’s matchup against Kentucky. What it does mean though for those with an insatiable thirst for all things ‘Cats-Cards is these may be the only quotes from the Louisville side prior to Saturday.

After falling from the ranks of the unbeaten in Wednesday’s 71-68 loss to Georgetown, Rick Pitino said his team would not hold a press conference prior to Saturday’s matchup against Kentucky. From a coaching standpoint, it’s probably a wise move to not put your players through another round of questioning and instead have get it over with while still steaming about their first loss of the season.
