The longest running Derby Festival event will showcase all things great about Kentucky

From Campbell to 9th Street, marching bands, floats, inflatable characters, and well respected people will be on display for all of Louisville to see.  Notable, Cyndi Lauper will kick things off with her timeless song, “True Colors” as the Grand Marshal.  The one thing that just may make this the parade to remember is the attendance of the 2012 NCAA Championship University of Kentucky Wildcats Men’s Basketball Coach, John Calipari and his coaching staff, will serve as the Honorary Grand Marshals.

In honor of baseball season (Part 2) [Sports]

Today, I continue to look at my all-area college baseball team; in looking toward tonight's Louisville-Kentucky game.

Yesterday I took some time to look at some of the baseball greats to come through area colleges; today I picked up where I left off by looking at the outfield.

In Left Field is Louisville’s Doc Powers, which is quite possible, the greatest baseball name I’ve ever heard. Powers stayed in the River City upon making his way to major league baseball by joining the roster of the Louisville Colonels in 1898.  Other pro-teams Powers took the field for includes the Washington Senators, Philadelphia Athletics and New York Highlanders

Baseball season is upon us once again and in honor of that I take a look at some of the greats to come through area college teams.

Ladies and gentleman, we stand on the precipice of baseball season.  By the way, I just really wanted to use the word precipice to be honest I’m not even sure that applies here.

All eyes will be on Louisville and Kentucky Saturday night as the two university's mens basketball teams battle in the NCAA Final Four tournament in New Orleans, Louisiana. On Monday, one of those teams will represent the Commonwealth in the NCAA Men's Final Tournament. Between Saturday and Monday, however, another athlete will represent the state in New Orleans--thoroughbred stakes winner Mission Impazible.  Yes, a horse!
