UK-UL-OMG: The Bluegrass State's biggest basketball moment happens Saturday [Sports]

It's already pegged as "Basketball Armageddon": Kentucky and Louisville meeting in the Final Four. The entire nation is about to get a peek at the hatred that will tear apart the state for one afternoon.

Maybe the Mayans were right. 2012 is the conclusion of civilization as we know it. As far as the college basketball landscape in the Bluegrass State goes, the End of Days may as well get here because we will never see anything like we’ve seen in this NCAA tournament.  The stage is set for UK and Louisville to meet in the Final Four in New Orleans.

Pitino and Calipari: When you say nothing at all [Sports]

Yogi Berra once (allegedly) said that "it was impossible to get a conversation going. Everyone was talking too much." That's the way I envision a conversation with Pitino and Calipari, the masters of hyperbole and semi-truths.

After knocking off College of Charleston 69-62 Tuesday night at the KFC Yum! Center, UofL head coach Rick Pitino has decided to add another game before Friday’s scheduled meeting with Western Kentucky.

The opposing team will be comprised of Lebron James and the ghost of Wilt Chamberlain. Also, Artis Gilmore has perfected time travel technology and will send his 1974 self to 2011 to take part along with the three members of the Fab Five you can actually remember.

UK deflated and UofL rolls while we count down to New Year's Eve [Sports]

Most overlooked stat of coach John Calipari's career at UK: he's 11-10 on opponent's courts. Lucky for the Wildcats, they won't leave the Bluegrass State until January 11th...but there is that little game with Louisville still on the horizon.

The Indiana Hoosiers garlic burped in the face of Big Blue Nation Saturday with a gutsy 73-72 win over the undefeated and top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats in Bloomington. Christian Watford’s last second three-pointer preserved Indiana’s perfect record (now 9-0) while bringing the young bunch of Wildcats back to Earth…at least momentarily.

LaBradford Smith can teach your kid how to hoop

Smith keeps pretty legendary company and they're all invited to help teach fundamental basketball to the group of kids gathered at JCC this month.

The Jewish Community Center of Louisville hosts a variety of sports camps each summer. This year campers can choose from soccer, volleyball, flag football, a multi-sport and a basketball camp. As in years past this JCC basketball camp will be led by hometown hero La Bradford Smith. Smith played at the University of Louisville (UofL) and professionally for the Washington Bullets and the Sacramento Kings. At UofL he started every game of his career and ranked among the leaders in nearly every UofL statistical category.
