If May was the month the Louisville Bats made up ground in the International League West Division. Then June was the month they took a step backwards.

Louisville went 17-13 in May, then posted a 12-16 record in June. So when the Bats began July they were a long way out of first place in the West. A long way. Louisville had a 36-44 record and were in the West cellar, 12 games out of first place.

Jukich, Bats' bats too much for Mud Hens [Sports]

Louisville left-hander Ben Jukich, left, threw seven solid innings, giving up three hits while walking one and striking out seven over seven innings in the Bats' 8-3 win at Toledo on Wednesday night. The victory kept Louisville a half-game behind Columbus in the International League West, but gave them a four game lead over Syracuse in the IL wildcard race with five games to play.

Ben Jukich and the Louisville Bats manhandled the Toledo Mud Hens on Wednesday night.

Jukich threw seven solid innings, while the Bats pounded out 11 hits to beat host Toledo 8-3 at Fifth Third Field.

The victory kept Louisville (77-61) a half-game behind Columbus (78-61), which beat Indianapolis 4-1 Wednesday, in the International League West with five games remaining in the regular season.

Mud Hens make quick work of Bats; Louisville falls a half-game behind Columbus [Sports]

A pair of pitchers limited Louisville to only four hits as the host Toledo Mud Hens beat the Bats 4-1 in just two hours and six minutes at Fifth Third Field on Tuesday night. The loss dropped Louisville a half-game behind Columbus in the International League West with six games remaining in the regular season. But the good news is the Bats lead Buffalo and Syracuse by four games in the IL wildcard race.

It was a quick and costly loss for the Louisville Bats on Tuesday night.

A pair of pitchers limited Louisville to only four hits as the host Toledo Mud Hens beat the Bats 4-1 in just two hours and six minutes at Fifth Third Field.

Furbush, Hens beat Bats, but Louisville maintains West lead [Sports]

Toledo pitcher Charlie Furbush recovered from a shaky start to shut down the Louisville Bats' bats over the final eight innings as the Mud Hens beat Louisville 8-3 Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field. However the Bats maintained their 1 1/2-game lead in the International League West because second-place Columbus also lost.

There was bad news and good news for the Louisville Bats on Saturday night.

The bad news was that they lost to Toledo 8-3 at Louisville Slugger Field.

Chapman, Dorn, Castillo key Bats' ninth as they beat Clippers 2-1 [Sports]

Highly-touted pitching prospect Aroldis Chapman (left) a threw a 105 mile-per hour fastball, and struck out the side, in the top of the ninth inning then Danny Dorn made a key baserunning play and Wilkin Castillo delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth as Louisville beat Columbus 2-1 at Louisville Slugger Field. The victory gives the Bats a 1 1/2-game lead over the Clippers in the International League West with 10 games to play.

Aroldis Chapman brought the heat, Danny Dorn brought the baserunning and Wilkin Castillo brought the big hit in the ninth inning Friday night for the Louisville Bats.

Balentien's blasts help Bats beat Indians, boost lead [Sports]

Wladimir Balentien, left, hit a pair of home runs, and drove in four runs, to lead the Louisville Bats to a 5-1 win over the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. The victory, coupled with a Columbus loss, boosted the Bats' lead in the International League West to 1 1/2 games.

Wladimir Balentien was atrocious in April, but in August he's been awesome.

The Louisville Bats right fielder continued his torrid month Tuesday night, hitting two home runs and driving in four in the Bats' 5-1 win over the Indianapolis Indians at Louisville Slugger Field.

Miller sparks Bats to comeback win over Indians [Sports]

Veteran catcher Corky Miller, left, ignited the Louisville Bats' comeback from a 3-0 deficit in the final two innings of their 6-3 victory over the Indianapolis Indians at Victory Field on Monday night. Miller hit a leadoff home run in the eighth inning, then a go-ahead, two-run double in the ninth to help Louisville keep its half-game lead over Columbus in the International League West.

Seventh, Sappelt lead Bats over Indians 10-6 [Sports]

A five-run seventh inning, and five hits from Dave Sappelt (left), propelled the Louisville Bats past the host Indianapolis Indians on Saturday night and into first place in the International League West. Louisville's victory, coupled with Columbus' lost, gave the Bats a half-game lead in the division.

The seventh was heaven for the Louisville Bats on Saturday night.

A five-run seventh inning propelled them past host Indianapolis 10-6 at Victory Field, and into first place in the International League West.

Home still sweet for the Bats [Sports]

In their first home game since Aug. 8 the Louisville Bats extended their franchise-record home winning streak to 12 games with an 8-5 victory over Syracuse on Tuesday night. Yonder Alonso, left, led Louisville at the plate with three hits and three RBIs as the Bats stayed within 2 1/2 games of Columbus in the International League West.

A return to Louisville Slugger Field helped the Louisville Bats return to their winning way.

The Bats extended their franchise-record home winning streak to 12 games with an 8-5 victory over Syracuse on Tuesday night.
