The Louisville Bats had averaged 9.2 runs in winning six straight games, but Thursday night their pitching staff propelled them to their 11th shutout of the season. Louisville's Matt Maloney, left, gave up just two hits while striking out five over seven innings to win his third straight start.

A first-inning grand slam by Wladimir Balentien, left, got the Louisville Bats' offense going early, and it was just the beginning, as Louisville lambasted Charlotte 19-6 Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. Mother Nature brought a premature end to a very successful road trip for the Louisville Bats on Monday. They won six of seven games away from Louisville Slugger Field and return there Tuesday night to begin a six-game homestand.
