Bomb-Disposal Site Needed: Got Any Unused Land?

The city is looking for a few good bomb-storage locations. Let's help 'em out!

If you've been following the recent dust-up over the city's decision to put an explosives-storage facility on the Cardinal Hill Reservoir property, you know that one metro council member in particular, the 25th district's Doug Hawkins, has been doing his damnedest to start a m

WorldFest: celebrating diversity in Louisville with the family [Family and Parenting]

Louisville's WorldFest--where the family can share a falafel, salsa dance, and paint their hands in henna. A beautiful Louisville tradition that celebrates the city's diversity.

Woven through the tapestry of our humble city, coloring our land-locked valley are countless immigrants that call Louisville home. Often-times we step outside our doors and casually wave to the mono-chromatic neighbors that surround us, but rarely do we have the pleasure of celebrating the beautiful diversity of our city.  Only at my day-job, in the public school system of Jefferson County am I reminded of the cultures that call this area home.

The University of Louisville men's basketball team has taken a double hit.

Friday UofL announced that neither former Memphis guard Roburt Sallie nor 2010 signee Justin Coleman will be eligible to play for the Cardinals in the 2010-11 season.

According to the announcement Sallie, who had signed a financial aid agreement with UofL in June, won't play "due to the timing requirements of meeting the matriculation deadline for graduate school."

Ironman runs through Prospect [Prospect]

Major delays to River Road and SR 42...

Sunday, August 29th, will bring major delays to River Road & SR 42 due to the commencement of the 2010 Ford Ironman. There is signage everywhere advising residents to find alternate routes due to the predicted delays. Personally, I'm thinking this the perfect excuse to not drive anywhere and settle in for a nice day of Netflix. For route information see the Ironman Louisville site here.

Another Reason To Go To The Fair [Kentucky State Fair]

Sometimes the only place to go for answers is the State Fair.

Sometimes the only place to go for answers is the State Fair. There have been times when I've wrestled with, what felt like, the questons of the world. What I loved about this exhibit is the simplicity of the question posed. Really, who hasn't ever thought about what one can do with a llama (ahem..Michael Jackson)?

A Kids Day [Kentucky State Fair]

Friday proved to be a day for the kids, with hundreds of elementary schools sending students to spend a day at the fair.

An ode to the Cardinals [Sports]

Perhaps it’s this clear love for the Cardinals, the excitement of a new football coach, the glisten of the new stadium, or the sexy scandals of Mr. Pitino, but something has my interest peaked.

When I first moved to Louisville, just three days shy of a year ago, a new friend took me to a sports bar where everyone was talking about, you guessed it, sports.  After listening to talk of the Cardinals for what seemed like an eternity, I very stupidly asked, “Do you have any real sports teams?”  I did make it out that bar alive, clearly, but it was not easy.  Eyes lit up, fists struck tables with furious... let's call it explanation.

Mesoraco does it again as Bats beat Chiefs 6-2 [Sports]

It was the Bats' franchise-record 14th straight win at home.
