The Frankfort Avenue FAT Friday Trolley Hop will be running all day on Black Friday, November 28th, in keeping with the day after Thanksgiving shopping tradition. Trolleys will run from 11:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Most stores will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.   

The Afternoon Lecture Series takes a break in December by kicking off the holiday season with the annual concert by The Louisville Dulcimer Society.  Coffee and dessert are served at 1 p.m.

The Derby City Fly Fishers will host the Kentuckiana Fly Fishing Show on Sat., Jan. 31, 2009, 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. at the Holiday Inn Airport South located at 2715 Fern Valley Road. The show will include over 80 exhibits, educational seminars, and is expected to draw over 1000 men, women, and children from a vast majority of the eastern United States.

Celebrate New Years Eve with laughter at The Improv! Comedian Mike Birbiglia comes to Louisville for the last night of the year!

Mike Birbiglia is well known on the comedy circuit. He's had two "Comedy Central Presents" half-hour specials, he's appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "The Late Show with David Letterman", and has performed at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, The Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, and the Kilkenny Arts Festival. Mike's comedy has also been heard on the Bob & Tom Radio Show.

The Frankfort Avenue Business Association's “Olde Tyme Christmas on Frankfort Avenue” will be held Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The celebration will include annual events, such as the Santa Sprint Run and Stroll, the festive Dog Walk, and the Good Neighbor Awards. 

On November 28, the fifth annual “Christmas Tree Lane” will open for business and Louisvillians will enjoy a continuing tradition of purchasing their Christmas Trees downtown at Louisville Waterfront Park.   Local vendors Tommy Thompson and Gary Jecker look forward to another very successful year selling many varieties of trees, wreaths and other holiday greenery.  Both vendors anticipate that the time-honored tradition of the family tree will outshine concerns for a slow economy.   More families are expected to remain home this holiday season and holiday decorating will play an impor
