You may have noticed a difference between what you can buy on the Kentucky side of the river (essentially sparklers and noisemakers) versus what you can buy on the Indiana side (mortars that would put a Guerrilla insurrection to shame.) There's a huge difference between what's legal in each state. This is why I recommend all fireworks loving people visit their friends in Indiana for the 4th of July.

This was my third year visiting Kentucky's Highland Renaissance Festival. Being a costume loving geek, I've been to the ginormous Ohio Renaissance Festival north of Cincinnati plus Ren Faires in Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and Georgia.

We're looking to make some improvements 'round these parts and need a Drupal programmer to help us with it. You: super knowledgeable about Drupal, responsive to our requests and ideally in the Louisville area.
Please e-mail zach@louisville.com if you're interested. Thanks!

We're open to other neighborhoods and topics too, so pitch us. The only catch: the beat has to relate to Louisville.
The commitment: three short posts a week on your subject. The pay is commensurate for blogging. Other perks include access to events throughout the city and writing for a high-profile website that'll build your Internet presence and clip file.

My colleague Steve Coomes and I thought it would be cool to cover some Thunder Over Louisville special events, a chance to see how Thunder is experienced when you've got access to some of the bigger-ticket events
So he volunteered to take the Indiana side. I went for the first-class dinner at the Oakroom and the Louisville Ballet party on Main Street. I think I got the better deal.
